About us:

The mission of Alvarez and Suarez Support is to be the agency of choice as we strive to provide the best care services for individuals who have developmental disabilities, so that they can achieve their maximum degree of independence, self-determination and happiness.

The organization works under agreement with the State of Florida Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waiver program. We provide services in Miami Dade, Broward and Monroe counties.

Our Homemaker and Companion program outside of the Medicaid Waiver serves people in the Miami Dade County area.

To become a client of ours, you must contact your waiver support coordinator to contact us with a referral. The programs we offer are:

Supported Employment: We assist you find that job you always wanted!

Let’s explore different possibilities together, and find out what it is that you can do best. With the assistance of the Vocational Rehabilitation program and us working together you will be in the best hands to make your employment dream a reality. We will be close by to celebrate your success, or help you smooth things over if times get rough. Your job coach will act as a liaison between you and your employer whenever you need us.

Supported Living: Want to live on your own, or with a housemate? Then this service is for you. We will assist you to find a suitable place to live, manage your own space and time, and succeed on your own. From utilities to furniture, from meeting your neighbors to get the most out of your community, we are here with you all the way.

Personal Care: This service is designed to assist you perform those daily living activities that may be a little difficult for you, such as bathing, grooming, perform house chores, running errands, going to the doctor or dentist, etc. We have it all figured out for you!

Companion: Be trained in using your community to the max and have some fun while you are at it! Companion services are individually planned, and can be as simple as assisting you go fishing, shopping, etc., or as complex as helping you understand your own computer or navigate the Internet. Our practical learning approach happens in a fun-loving environment that fits your needs and interests. We are sure you will love our Companion services!

Respite Care: This service provides care to children under 21 years old who are Med-Waiver recipients already. The main goal of this service is to make it possible for the family caregiver to take a break from providing care and tend to their own affairs, for example to visit a doctor or take a short vacation, or when there are reasons that prevent the main family caregiver to provide care for a child. Family members can rest assured that their loved child is well cared for by our associates.

Each above-mentioned program designs is based on individual choice and self-determination. Alvarez and Suarez Support trains its clients and their loved ones to be self-advocates, so that the family as a unit can exercise their rights as they surround their loved one with their love and support.
